Hi and Welcome to Honey Lake Mini Aussie's! 

We are a small Hobby Breeder in North-Eastern California of Toy and Miniature Australian Shepherds.  We are members of MASCA and ASDR registries.  Our focus is to better the breed with good genetics, conformation, temperment and beauty is a bonus.  Our puppies get the quality care and attention they need before they go into their new homes being handled daily.  We raise our dogs in our home  around children, cats, horses and other dogs so they are well rounded and friendly.  We believe in "quality over quantity" which makes for happier, healthier dogs that is why we believe in having one litter at a time to create a stress free enviroment and allow the dogs to get the care that they need during their time of pregnancy and whelping.  We have worked hard to only breed dogs with pleasant, affectionate temperaments but also strive for the best genetics which is definitely part of what determines your puppies adult behavior.  The care and health that a young puppy recieves in it's beginning will determine the developement and growth of that puppy.

Our hope is to offer you a puppy that is happy, healthy and a family member for many years to come, but also one you can be proud to show off.  We realize some of you are experienced dog owners and some of you may be getting your first puppy.  Our goal is to share some information to make your life with your new puppy an easy transition.  We strive to provide only information that is current, scientifically proven and based on humane canine behavior rather than opinion. The internet is great fun and can be a resource for information but unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish fact from opinion, and well intentioned pet owners can be misinformed.  So with your new puppy we send an information packet.

We are blessed to have a wonderful and accomplished Veterinarian in our family, George Bertram DVM, (check out About us) who counsels us on the health, genetics and well being of our dogs, to ensure that we are breeding the healthiest dogs that we can whether they be for companion, working dog, family, breeding or show.
